    How do can I tell what shower valve cartridge to get ? Is it a one size fit all?

    • @BJPoznecki
      @BJPoznecki 13 часов назад

      No, Kohler single-handle shower valves don't all use the same cartridge. The type of cartridge can vary depending on the model and the age of the valve. It's important to check the specific model number of your shower valve to find the correct cartridge. If you have the model number, you can look it up on the Kohler website or contact their customer service for the exact information.

About 5 years ago, one of the halogens burned out and I'm just now getting around to replacing it. I kept putting it off because the two light fixtures offer plenty of light, even with one bulb burned out. These halogens have lasted me years. I did replace one bulb about 10 years ago and now this bulb. Now watch the other halogens burn out after me saying this. Thanks again.

    • @BJPoznecki

      If you close all of the vents throughout the house then yes, that will cause an issue. However, for air conditioning if you’re closing off just the first floor and the basement that will be OK.

    serious question - why don't they just make these with pex run inside the wall now? they're shielded from sunlight and wouldn't burst if exposed to freezing water now and again. They could be made in pex to copper connectors. I've heard many folks in my neighborhood cursing these things loudly because they cost a mint if a plumber installs them and you can end up with real problems if they leak inside a wall. to have that big of a problem occur from leaving the hose connected once is kind of dumb. I went to running pex to a common brass outdoor bibb with a shutoff just inside and no longer disconnect the hose. call me lazy, but in the fall, it can be 75F here one day and the 20F overnight a day or two later. you're always stuck taking the house out and draining it only to wish a week later it was still on to water.

    • @BJPoznecki
      @BJPoznecki 8 дней назад

      Well, you have a great point. I was just with John the plumber for Sunday dinner and he always installs a shut off valve inside the house even with these frostproof hose bibs. He installs one of those shut off valves that have the drain port on the one side so when you turn the valve off, you can open the drain port and empty the water out of the pipe that’s after that valve.

  • @mikekillion4731

    Do they help the airflow when the door is open too? The temperature in my bedroom is much different than the rest of the house and I generally know why, it's on the opposite side of the house and two floors up from the blower so the airflow is quite low. There's a return just outside the bedroom in the wall, close to the floor. I can imagine having a vent above the door would help some, particularly in the summer.

    • @BJPoznecki
      @BJPoznecki 8 дней назад

      No, it just for when the door is closed. What you might want to do is seasonally balance your system to push more airflow to that room if it’s a little bit warm in the summer. Follow my instructions in this video. ruclips.net/video/VwZpOzOBDqA/видео.htmlsi=WeG21YLKDxYleVqm

    • @BJPoznecki
      @BJPoznecki 17 дней назад

      It has to be mounted on your furnace or somewhere close to it. If you’re having trouble finding it, I would just disconnect the wires from the electronic damper which is the red control thing you’re referring to. By disconnecting the wires it should stay in the closed/off position. Double check the little indicator making sure that it’s at the closed position and not the open. If it’s staying in the open position after disconnecting the wires I would go outside and find the exhaust vent where the air comes in. It will be one that does not have a flapper inside of it. And figure out a way to cover that vent whether it be with duct tape or something just to seal it off so the air is not coming in to your home from the outside.

    • @BJPoznecki
      @BJPoznecki 18 дней назад

      If it’s a new shower and there’s no water pressure, more than likely when they turned the water off and turned it back on it pushed all the sediment that was in the pipes, into the cartridge. You’ll need to have the plumber come back out and either clean or replace the cartridge. That should fix the issue.
